Northwest Territories Construction Association
The Northwest Territories Construction Association (NWTCA) is a
non-profit organization that represents almost 200 companies from the
northern construction industry. Its members are contractors,
architects, engineers, project managers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
The NWTCA keeps NWT and Nunavut construction industry employers and
workers up-to-date; everything from new job tenders and Request for
Proposals opportunities to current issues and events are published in
its weekly newsletter.
The NWTCA keeps northern construction industry employers and workers up-to-date and supports its members by:
- maintaining a plans room, where members can review tender plans and specifications to help prepare bids;
- distributing standard construction documents, such as contracts and
industry best-practice guides published by the Canadian Construction
Documents Committee and the Canadian Construction Association; and
- creating and distributing a weekly newsletter about current events, contract opportunities, and safety-related issues.
Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
The Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories and
Nunavut (WSCC) provides compensation to injured workers and promotes
workplace safety. With offices in Yellowknife, Inuvik, Iqaluit, and
Rankin Inlet, the WSCC serves northern employers and workers by
ensuring they are properly cared for in the event of a workplace injury
or illness. In addition, the WSCC works hard to prevent workplace
incidents from happening in the first place through safety training,
industrial and mine safety inspections, innovative program initiatives,
and targeted social marketing.
To continue its commitment to workplace safety, the WSCC funds the Northern Safety Association.
